Farrow & Ball

fb logo rndIt all started in Dorset, back in 1946, with pioneers John Farrow and Richard Ball. Farrow was a trained chemist while Ball was an engineer. They met at a local clay pit and together shared a passion for making rich colours to original formulations using only the finest ingredients and age-old methods, and it’s a passion that continues to be matched by our craftsmen today. The unmatched Farrow & Ball look transforms modern and traditional homes, large and small, inside and out around the world. Even with more than 60 showrooms worldwide and a global network of 2000+ stockists, we’ve never forgotten our local Dorset roots. Our distinctive palette of 132 timeless colours is renowned for its depth and complexity. Using only the finest ingredients and rich pigments (up to 5 in each colour), our paint responds extraordinarily to all types of light to bring walls and surfaces to life. We start by mixing chalk, china clay and titanium dioxide with water to create our base paint. Next, we add rich pigments to achieve our signature depth of colour, carefully adding each in exactly the right amount for a complex and absorbing colour subtly responding to each change of light and season. Every batch of our water-based paint is then rigorously tested for colour consistency and durability before it even reaches the tin. This unique look transforms modern and traditional homes, large and small, inside and out, across the world. Each colour tells a story, whether it’s inspired by the beauty of nature, our Dorset home, historic houses or notable people and places. Our paints are available in a complete range of eight highly durable interior and exterior finishes, from our signature matte Estate Emulsion to our high shine Full Gloss. All of our paint finishes are water based, low VOC (volatile organic compounds) as well as eco-friendly. Wallpapers are usually made with ink, but not ours. We use our own richly pigmented paint and traditional block and trough printing methods to give a uniquely tactile finish, creating a seamless connection between paint and paper. And our collection of artisanal wallpaper is handcrafted with our own water-based paint and responsibly sourced high-quality paper.

    Wimborne White (No. 239)

Modern Emulsion (7% sheen) – This just off-white is named after the market town of Wimborne in Dorset and home to Farrow & Ball. Only a shade away from a pure white, the addition of the smallest amount of warm yellow pigment creates a very versatile shade which is just a little softer than All White. Pair with our White & Light Tones Primer & Undercoat

    Nancy’s Blush (No. 278)

Modern Eggshell (20% sheen) – This true pink is named after the scrumptious rosy cheeks of a much loved little girl called Nancy. The uplifting shade of Nancy’s Blushes certainly grabs your attention when paired with white, but can create quietly charming interiors when contrasted with a soft neutral in shady rooms. Pair with our White & Light Tones Primer & Undercoat.

    Dimpse (No. 277)

Modern Eggshell (20% sheen) – Dimpse is a delicate grey named after the quaint West Country UK dialect for the colour of twilight and is one of our cooler Architectural Neutrals. Its subtle blue undertones work particularly well in modern architectural spaces. This colour is conducive to minimal living. Pair with our White & Light Tones Primer & Undercoat.
